Reasons to believe
  • A warm breeze at the the sow's nose in winter
  • Air is cooled through the air duct under the barn floor
  • Provides a cool breeze in summer

The Fresh Nose system creates an ideal microclimate for sows during the summer by delivering cool air directly to their noses through an underground duct. The outside air is naturally cooled before entering the barn, effectively reducing the risk of heat stress by targeting the sow's nose, its most sensitive area. The sow can choose to move closer to the ventilation for additional cooling. The gentle air draft also encourages piglets to move into their nest.

Integrated seamlessly into the farrowing crate, Fresh Nose Ventilation requires no additional space or modifications to the building. It uses a ground channel ventilation system to maintain a cool environment without mixing with the room's overall temperature, providing a cooling effect of around 5°C.. Positioned at the front of the crate, air is diffused for 100% to the upper part of the crate or 30% under the trough. The system can be controlled manually or automatically, based on predefined conditions.
